Citi Global Wealth Appoints Li-Gang Liu as Asia-Pacific Head of Economic Analysis

Citi Global Wealth Management (CGWM) has appointed Li-Gang Liu as the new Asia-Pacific Head of Economic Analysis, providing thought leadership and policy analysis of the region’s key economies and deepening analysis of China’s economy and future relations with the world. Li-Gang Liu was Citi Research’s Chief Economist for China since 2016, and has more than 20 years of experience including Chief Economist for Greater China at ANZ Bank, senior research roles at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo, the World Bank in Washington D.C. and Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington D.C. Li-Gang Liu will report to Steven Wieting, Chief Investment Strategist and Chief Economist for CGWM, and Roger Bacon, Asia Pacific Head of CGWM APAC Ultra High Net Worth Business.

Li-Gang Liu Academic Background: Liu enrolled in the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing for two years before earning a scholarship to study in the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
