Hong Kong Chief Secretary John Lee Announces Bid to be New Chief Executive, Carrie Lam to Step Down

Hong Kong Chief Secretary John Lee has announced his bid to be the new Hong Kong Chief Executive, with Carrie Lam to step down at the end of her term as Hong Kong Chief Executive. Beijing has approved the resignation of Hong Kong Chief Secretary John Lee, who was also Hong Kong former Secretary for Security and Deputy Commissioner of Police. The nomination period for the leadership will last until 16th of April, with the selection scheduled for 8th of May 2022. The new Chief Executive of Hong Kong will begin office on 1st July 2022.
