China Tech Giants Tencent, Alibaba & Didi Fined Again by China Antitrust Regulators for Unreported M&A Deals, Total of 28 Cases & $75,000 Maximum Fine Per Case

China tech giants Tencent, Alibaba & Didi Global had been fined again by China anti-trust regulators for unreported M&A deals (Mergers & Acquisition) dating back to 2011 after anti-monopoly reviews, with a total of 28 cases carrying a maximum fine of $75,000 per case (CNY 500,000, Tencent: 12 cases, Alibaba: 5 cases, Didi: 4 cases). In 2008, China new Anti-Monopoly Law requires any deal to seek regulatory reviews if there is any monopoly implications. The China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) is responsible for drug administration, food safety, trademarks, and patents, as well as anti-monopoly policies.
