Citi Private Bank North Asia Head & Former Goldman Sachs Private Banker Rudolf Hitsch Extends 24 Years of Private Banking Career, Joins Nomura as North Asia Head of Wealth Management

Citi Private Bank North Asia Head & former Goldman Sachs Private Banker Rudolf Hitsch is extending his 24 years of private banking career, joining Nomura as North Asia Head of Wealth Management. At Citi Private Bank, Rudolf Hitsch (North Asia Head) leads the North Asia private banking business, managing teams based in Hong Kong & Singapore, and contributing to majority of the private bank’s business in Asia-Pacific. In 2010, Rudolf Hitsch joined Citi Private Bank as Market Head and relaunched the Private Bank offshore Mainland China business. He built trust with senior management to open up business travel into Mainland China, led by example to build a team culture of tight risk control and high performance, and hired young bankers and developed them into some of Wall Street’s most productive and responsible offshore China bankers. In 2017, he took on the added responsibility of Taiwan and in 2018, he was appointed Citi Private Bank North Asia Head. Rudolf Hitsch started his private banking career at Goldman Sachs in 1998 and became one of Goldman Sachs top private banker for the Mainland China market in just a few years. In 2006, he was appointed as Goldman Sachs Private Banking Team Head. Nomura Names Rudolf Hitsch North Asia Head of Wealth Management
3rd April 2023 – Nomura, Asia’s global investment bank, today appointed Dr. Rudolf Hitsch as Head of North Asia for its International Wealth Management business.
In this newly created role, Dr. Hitsch will be based in Hong Kong and responsible for International Wealth Management’s client relationship management teams covering North Asia. He reports to Ravi Raju, Nomura’s Head of International Wealth Management.
Dr. Hitsch has about 25 years of experience in private banking, serving Chinese clients. Until recently, he was Head of North Asia at Citi Private Bank, where he spent over a dozen years building its offshore mainland China and Taiwan private banking business and overseeing the growth of the Hong Kong business. Prior to that, he spent another 12 years at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management in Hong Kong, where his last assignment was to lead a China team.

Rudolf Hitsch, Academic Achievements
Rudolf Hitsch graduated from University of Natural Resources & Life Sciences, Vienna (Australia) with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1991, and Doctor of Philosophy in 1995. Between 1992 to 1994, Rudolf Hitsch also completed a Bachelor of Arts (Chinese) in Beijing Language and Culture University. In 1998, Rudolf Hitsch completed his Master of Business Administration (Finance, General) at New York University Stern School of Business.
