Credit Suisse has announced the appointment of Burkhard Varnholt as Global Chief Investment Officer & Chairman of the Investment Committee, succeeding Michael Strobaek and will report to Credit Suisse CEO Wealth Management Francesco De Ferrari. Credit Suisse: “In his new role, Burkhard Varnholt will report to Francesco De Ferrari, CEO Wealth Management, and join the Management Committee of the Wealth Management Division. Together with his teams, Burkhard Varnholt will continue to manage and position the Credit Suisse House View as well as lead and support the upcoming transition … … Burkhard Varnholt rejoined Credit Suisse in November 2016, having worked for the bank from 1996 to 2006 as Global Head of Financial Products & Investment Advisory in Private Banking. From 2006 until 2014, he was Chief Investment Officer at Bank J. Safra Sarasin. Thereafter, he was Chief Investment Officer and Head of Investment Solutions Group at Julius Bär for almost two years. Burkhard Varnholt holds a Master’s Degree and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of St. Gallen. Credit Suisse Appoints Burkhard Varnholt as Global Chief Investment Officer & Chairman of the Investment Committee
27th April 2023 – Burkhard Varnholt is to become Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chairman of the Investment Committee of Credit Suisse with effect from May 8, 2023. He has served as Deputy Global CIO and Vice-Chairman of the Investment Committee since 2016, and will assume the role from Michael Strobaek, who has decided to pursue a new opportunity outside the bank.
In his new role, Burkhard Varnholt will report to Francesco De Ferrari, CEO Wealth Management, and join the Management Committee of the Wealth Management Division. Together with his teams, Burkhard Varnholt will continue to manage and position the Credit Suisse House View as well as lead and support the upcoming transition.
