HSBC has announced to exit HSBC Wealth & Personal Banking in New Zealand in phases (over the next few years) and will help clients switch to other service providers in the next few months. The decision to exit New Zealand was made after a strategic review, and to focus on more profitable businesses globally and in expanding Asian markets. HSBC has been operating in New Zealand for more than 35 years. New Zealand has a population of 5.1 million with GDP of $249 billion.
