Australia Competition Regulator Blocked ANZ Group $3.2 Billion Offer to Buy Suncorp Group Banking Business

Australia competition regulator (Australian Competition & Consumer Commission) has blocked ANZ Group $3.2 billion (A$4.9 billion) offer to buy Suncorp Group banking business. Australian Competition & Consumer Commission Deputy Chair Mick Keogh: “We are not satisfied that the acquisition is not likely to substantially lessen competition in the supply of home loans nationally, small to medium enterprise banking in Queensland, and agribusiness banking in Queensland.”
