United States is proposing to increase tariffs on China imports, including increasing from 27.5% to 100% on China electric vehicles, 50% on semiconductor & solar cells, 25% on lithium-ion vehicle batteries & parts, and 25% on steel & aluminium. World Trade Organization – Customs duties on merchandise imports are called tariffs. Tariffs give a price advantage to locally-produced goods over similar goods which are imported, and they raise revenues for governments.
