Singapore largest bank DBS had provided 19 business loans to ex-Bangladesh Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, who had been reported to have invested more than $500 million in properties in London, Dubai & New York, and is being investigated by Bangladesh authorities for size of wealth, non-declaration of tax on overseas assets & money laundering to the UK. Saifuzzaman Chowdhury has also been reported to own more than 350 properties valued at $265 million. His bank accounts were frozen by Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) in 2024 August. Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was Bangladesh Land Minister from 2019 to 2024.
