Prudential asset manager Eastspring Investments ($271 billion AUM) has hired Credit Suisse Ray Farris as Chief Economist. Ray Farris is an economist & strategist for 34 years at Credit Suisse, ING Bank, BZW Asia & Crosby Securities, with 24 years at Credit Suisse (1998 to 2000, 2001 to 2024) including as Chief Economist & CIO for Americas, CIO South Asia & Chief Economist APAC. Eastspring Investments (6/1/25): “Eastspring Investments (“Eastspring”), the USD271 billion asset management business of Prudential plc (“Prudential”), today announced the appointment of Ray Farris as its first Chief Economist, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Ray will be responsible for driving economic analysis and insights for both Prudential and Eastspring.At Prudential, Ray will provide macroeconomic views and research in alignment with an evolving global macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape. His expertise and perspective will be instrumental in developing a unified house view. At Eastspring, Ray will provide in-depth macroeconomic data, trends and insights to guide investment and asset allocation decisions. Based in Singapore, Ray will report to Eastspring Investments’ Chief Investment Officer Vis Nayar.With more than 30 years’ experience as an economist and strategist for international financial services firms, Ray has led research in economics, markets and policy across three continents. He spent 22 years at Credit Suisse in various leadership roles, most recently as Global Chief Economist and Chief Investment Officer for the Americas based in New York. From 2001 to 2022, he was predominantly based in Singapore with Credit Suisse, in various positions including Chief Investment Officer for South Asia, and Head of Asia Economics and Fixed Income Strategy. Ray started his career in Hong Kong in 1991 as Head of Economics and Equity Strategy at Crosby Securities. Ray holds a Master of Science in Finance from London Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina.” In 2024 August, Eastspring Investments hired BNY Mellon Investment Management Dominic Wong as Regional Head of Intermediary Sales. Dominic Wong has 32 years of financial & asset management industry experience including at Citi, HSBC Asset Management, Fidelity International & BNY Mellon Investment Management and held senior roles including as Head of Intermediary Asia ex-Japan, Head of Intermediary Business for Northeast Asia & Head of Retail Sales Hong Kong. Based in Hong Kong, Dominic Wong reports to Salman Haider (Eastspring Investments Chief Distribution Officer). 23rd February 2024 – Eastspring Investments with $216 billion AUM (Assets under Management) has hired HSBC Asset Management Vis Nayar as Chief Investment Officer (3rd June 2024). Vis Nayar joins Eastspring Investments after 25 years at HSBC, and had held senior investment roles including Global CIO for Equities, European & UK CIO, Global Head of Quantitative Equity Research & Head of Systematic Equities. Vis Nayar holds an MSc in Finance from the London Business School and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London and he is a CFA Charterholder. Based in Singapore, Vis Nayar will report to Eastspring CEO Bill Maldonado, and will join Eastspring Executive Management Committee (EMC).
