The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is requiring banks to conduct mandatory name checks for instant fund transfers exceeding HKD 1,000 ($128) to prevent scams, with checks process to be ready by end-May 2025. The current requirement is HKD 10,000 ($1,280) to conduct mandatory name checks for instant fund transfers.
