Former BNP Paribas London Head of Legal Benedict Foster has been fined $40,000 (£31,000) by the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority for using derogatory nicknames (Monikers) to colleagues (2020 to 2021) such as Star Wars character Jabba the Hutt, Cambodia dictator Pol Pot (1976 – 1979), Mad Paul, Twittering Fool, Biriyani (Indian Colleague) and Hu She (Asian Colleague). Benedict Foster was previously the Head of Legal in BNP Paribas London Debt & Equity Capital Markets.
