Hong Kong former Security Chief John Lee has been elected as the next HK Chief Executive, succeeding Carrie Lam and to start on 1st of July 2022. John Lee won the election with 1,146 votes from 1,500 votes. John Lee campaign slogan is “Starting a new chapter for Hong Kong together” and was the only candidate for the election. In 2021, Hong Kong electoral laws was amended to allow only “patriots” loyal to Beijing to hold office.
