Singapore MAS & China Securities Regulatory Commission Witness MOU Signing to Establish ETF Products Between Singapore & Shanghai Stock Exchange, Discuss Initiatives to Deepen Capital Markets Connection Between Singapore & China

Singapore Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) have witnessed the signing of MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to establish ETF products (Exchange Traded Funds Product Links) between Singapore Exchange (SGX) & Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), and discussed initiatives to deepen capital markets connection between Singapore & China. The annual supervisory meeting was held on 19th May 2023 (Friday), with the roundtable co-chaired by Singapore MAS Deputy Managing Director (Financial Supervision) Ho Hern Shin and China CSRC Vice-Chairman Fang Xinghai. Singapore MAS: “As capital market players in both countries continue to expand in each other’s markets, MAS and CSRC discussed China’s initial public offering (IPO) registration system and capital markets structural reform; Singapore’s supervisory approach for fund management and investor protection; as well as the regulation of derivatives markets in both countries. The roundtable also promoted collaboration between Singapore and Chinese exchanges to foster greater connectivity and cross-border capital market activities.”
