Asian-American Popular Singer & Songwriter CoCo Lee Dies at Age 48 after Suicide Attempt, Reported to Will Entire $127 Million Fortune to Mother
7th July 2023 – Asian-American popular singer & songwriter CoCo Lee has died at age 48 (5th July 2023) after her suicide attempt due to depression (2nd July), and is reported to will her entire $127 million (HKD 1 billion) fortune to her mother. CoCo Lee was born in 1975 (mother from Hong Kong) and father (from Malaysia, Chinese), and has 2 elder sisters (Nancy & Carol). CoCo father died before she was born, and when she was 9 years old, her mother brought the family to United States (San Francisco). In 1992, CoCo Lee took part in a singing contest and became 1st runner-up. In 1993, she released her debut album and in 1996, released the best-selling album in Asia (Coco Lee). In 1998, CoCo Lee was hired by Walt Disney Pictures to sing the song “Reflection” in the 1998 movie Mulan. CoCo Lee is married to Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz (2011), whose company which he co-founded (Colby International) was acquired by Hong Kong conglomerate Li & Fung for $2.2 billion in 2000. Bruce Rockowitz has 2 daughters from his first marriage. CoCo Lee has no children with Bruce Rockowitz, and is the stepmother to Bruce’s 2 daughters. CoCo Lee and Bruce Rockowitz had been reported to be separated for 2 years, and are due to sign their divorce agreement in 2023 July.

CoCo Lee, born on January 17 1975, is a Hong Kong-American singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress. CoCo’s career began in Hong Kong and then expanded to Taiwan. Her single, “Do You Want My Love” also entered the US music charts. Her first full-length English-language album was Just No Other Way. At the 73rd Academy Awards, she performed the Best Original Song nominated, “A Love Before Time” from Ang Li’s movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
