South Korean investors had lost around $4.2 billion in equity-linked structured products tracking the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI). Hundreds of thousands of South Korean retail investors had invested via banks including South Korea largest financial group Kookmin Bank & Citibank. The South Korea Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) had ordered (after investigations) 5 banks & 6 brokerages to compensate investors for mis-selling.
