Leading asset manager Franklin Templeton with $1.6 trillion AUM has hired Eastspring Investments Oliver Lee as Senior Vice President & Senior Client Portfolio Manager at Templeton Global Investments (18/6/24), succeeding William Chang who is appointed as Senior Client Portfolio Manager at Franklin Equity Group (1/8/24). Oliver Lee has more than 20 years of financial industry & investment experience including at Eastspring Investments, Jupiter Asset Management, Schroders, Goldman Sachs & UBS. William Chang has close to 20 years of financial industry & investment experience including at Goldman Sachs & Pacific Global Advisors (acquired by Goldman Sachs Asset Management in 2015). Announcement (2/7/24): “Franklin Templeton has announced the appointment of Oliver Lee to the role of Senior Vice President, Senior Client Portfolio Manager at Templeton Global Investments (TGI), effective June 18, 2024, and the appointment of William Chang to the newly-created role of Senior Client Portfolio Manager at Franklin Equity Group (FEG), effective August 1, 2024. TGI represents the combined businesses of Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity (FTEME) and Templeton Global Equity Group (TGEG) under a single umbrella. In his new role, Lee is responsible for representing TGI’s strategies in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. He will work closely with the firm’s distribution partners and clients to accelerate growth, deepen relationships and strengthen the firm’s market position in these key regions. Lee is based in Singapore and reports to Anu Sawhney, Managing Director and Head of Business Development at TGI. Templeton Global Investments (TGI), Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity (FTEME), Templeton Global Equity Group (TGEG) and Franklin Equity Group (FEG) are all Investment Advisory Groups within Franklin Templeton. Oliver Lee brings over 20 years of experience across investment banking and asset management in Europe and Asia. Prior to Franklin Templeton, Lee most recently served as a Client Portfolio Manager representing Japan equities at Eastspring Investments. He has also held various roles at Jupiter Asset Management, Schroders, Sloane Robinson, Goldman Sachs and UBS. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Wales, Cardiff. Oliver Lee takes over from William Chang, who will transition into the role of Senior Client Portfolio Manager, Franklin Equity Group. Chang will continue to be based in Singapore and will report to Evan Davis, Head of Business Development at the Franklin Equity Group. In this newly-created role, Chang will lead business development efforts in the APAC region to expand upon the success of the Franklin Equity Group’s diverse range of public and private Growth, Innovation, and sector focused investment and portfolio solutions. William Chang has close to 20 years of experience in the asset management industry. Immediately before joining Franklin Templeton in 2021, Chang was a vice president with the client solutions team with Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York, where he was responsible for origination efforts, as well as developing content and multi-asset portfolio solutions for corporate/public pensions, sovereign wealth funds, and endowments. Chang holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.”
