AIA Group has appointed 24-year veteran Fisher Zhang as Regional Chief Executive responsible for Mainland China, South Korea & Vietnam. Fisher Zhang joined AIA China in 2000, and was appointed as AIA China CEO in 2017. AIA (22/11/24): “AIA Group Limited (the “Company”, and together with its subsidiaries, “AIA” or the or the “Group”; stock codes: 1299 (HKD counter) and 81299 (RMB counter)) is pleased to announce the appointment of Fisher Zhang, as Regional Chief Executive, subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals. Fisher will have market responsibility for Mainland China, South Korea and Vietnam. He will be a member of the Group Executive Committee and report to Lee Yuan Siong, Group Chief Executive and President. Fisher will continue to fulfil his current responsibilities until the senior management appointment officially takes effect. Fisher joined AIA China in 2000 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2017. Under his exemplary leadership, AIA became the first foreign company to have a wholly-owned life insurance subsidiary in Mainland China and we have since expanded our presence to 10 geographies, with new branches in Tianjin, Hebei, Sichuan, Hubei and Henan. 29th May 2024 – AIA Group has opened a new headquarter in Hong Kong (Wan Chai) with the new AIA Building, which is 100% owned, operated & occupied by AIA. The new AIA Building can house 1,800 employees at full-capacity in a 22-floor urban campus with indoor running track, gym & multi-purpose sports hall. The AIA Building also has sustainability features such as 80 electric vehicle chargers, rooftop solar panels & self-sustaining power supply biodiesel generator. AIA (27/5/24): “AIA Group Limited (“AIA” or the “Group”) today announces the opening of its redeveloped group headquarters at 1 Stubbs Road, Wan Chai in Hong Kong. The AIA Building is Hong Kong’s first urban campus and is wholly owned, operated and solely occupied by AIA. Edmund Tse, AIA Group Chairman, Lee Yuan Siong, AIA Group Chief Executive and President, and the Honourable Michael Wong, Acting Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delivered remarks at the opening ceremony earlier today. The AIA Building will be home to around 1,800 employees at full capacity. The 22-floor campus features an indoor running track, a continuous 80-metre atrium staircase, fully equipped gym facilities, and a multi-purpose sports hall. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations were core to the redevelopment of the building, which has obtained leading green building credentials including platinum ratings across LEED, WELL and BEAM+ pre-certifications. Building History
- First completed in 1969, the old AIA building heralded the commercialisation of Wan Chai and led the trend of the Central Business District’s expansion eastwards.
- As the first commercial skyscraper outside Central, it was a new landmark in the Wan Chai district.
Key Features of the redeveloped building
- The building has a gross floor area of approximately 23,600 square metre and consists of 22 floors including parking and service floors.
- First corporate headquarters in Hong Kong to feature a 200-metre indoor, air-conditioned running track that wraps around the building’s perimeter.
- Glass exterior with floor to ceiling height of 3 metres. The parabolic shape of the floor plate is designed to maximise the gross floor area of the site, while providing occupants with views of the city and increasing the availability of natural daylight throughout the day.
- An indoor gym and multi-purpose sports hall support employee wellbeing.
- A continuous 80-metre atrium staircase allows people to connect from group floor lobby to upper floors with ease – the first time such a feature has been incorporated in a Hong Kong
building. - Formal and informal collaboration areas such as meeting rooms and lounges are located
throughout the building. - A canteen provides employees with healthy local and international cuisine options.
- Digital signage linked through a central Content Management System to create a sense
of connectedness in the building and future forward user experience.

- Built to the highest international development standards and pre-certified for LEED, WELL and BEAM Plus Platinum.
- Awarded the 2023 Asia Pacific Property Award Best Office Development, Hong Kong.
- A rainwater capture and storage system supplies water to gardens.
- Solar panels and a biodiesel generator supply self-produced power directly to elements of
the building, offsetting electricity consumption. - An organic food garden provides fresh herbs to the building’s canteen kitchen.
