2 Singapore Ministers (Law & Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam & Manpower Minister Tan See Leng) will be sending Letters of Demand to Bloomberg & other media outlets for publishing articles originating from Bloomberg on 12th December 2024, with statements on their property transactions which they considered to be libellous (false or unfair and are likely to damage their reputation). The Bloomberg article had claimed many property transactions in Singapore did not have legal filings and are harder to track including using shell companies or trusts, and citing property transactions from the 2 Singapore Ministers. On 12th December 2024, Bloomberg published the article titled: “Singapore Mansion Deals Are Increasingly Shrouded in Secrecy.” K. Shanmugam on Facebook (15/12/24): “Bloomberg published a libellous article on 12 Dec relating to Min Tan See Leng and my property transactions. We have taken legal advice and will be issuing Letters of Demand in relation to that article. We will be taking similar action against others who have also published libellous statements about those transactions. We take a serious view of the allegations. Tan See Leng.”
