Conventionally, Sovereign Wealth Funds manage assets of the nation from budget surplus, reserves and assets while Pension Funds manage savings and retirements money from employees or citizens.
Both Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds manage large pool of assets and often look for the same investment opportunities. Increasingly, they adopt the same investment philosophy and some countries or states have overlapped the asset management and operations of SWFs and PFs.
